Office Pantry Cleaning Schedule: A Daily, Weekly and Monthly Checklist for UAE Offices (2026)

A clean pantry depends less on how hard the cleaners work and more on having a schedule everyone understands. This checklist sets out what to clean every day, every week and every month in a UAE office pantry, who should do it, and which supplies to keep on hand.

Most pantry complaints are not about what is on the shelf. They are about the sticky counter, the fridge that smells, the coffee machine drip tray and the bin that was not emptied. These are cleaning problems, and they almost always come from the same cause: nobody is sure who cleans what, or how often.

A simple written schedule fixes most of it. This guide sets out a daily, weekly and monthly checklist that works for UAE offices of any size, from a 10-person team with one counter to a large floor with a full kitchen.

Why a schedule matters in UAE offices

Three things make pantry cleaning harder in the UAE than in many other places:

  • Heat and humidity. Food spoils faster, and spills attract ants and other pests quickly. The pest prevention guide explains why.
  • Shared buildings. Many offices share a cleaning contract with the building, which may cover floors and washrooms but not the fridge or coffee machine.
  • Food safety expectations. Even an office pantry handles food. The food safety rules guide covers the basics that apply.

Who does what

Before the checklist, agree who is responsible. A typical split looks like this:

TaskUsually done by
Wiping counters and tables after useEveryone
Washing own cups and platesEveryone
Daily surface clean, bins, floorCleaning team
Fridge clear-outOffice manager or a rota
Coffee machine daily routineCleaning team or a trained "coffee champion"
Deep clean of fridge, microwave and machinesCleaning team, monthly

Write it down and put it on the pantry wall. The pantry etiquette rules guide has wording you can use for the "everyone" tasks.

Daily checklist

At the end of every working day:

  • Wipe and sanitise counters, tables and the sink area.
  • Empty the coffee machine drip tray and grounds bin; rinse the milk system according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Wipe the water dispenser taps and drip tray.
  • Wipe the microwave inside and out.
  • Wipe door handles, fridge handles and kettle or hot-water tap handles.
  • Empty bins and replace liners. Keep food waste in a lidded bin.
  • Run and empty the dishwasher, or wash and dry left-over cups.
  • Sweep and mop the floor.
  • Check hand soap, paper towels and dish soap.

The coffee champion guide explains how to make the daily coffee machine routine someone's clear job.

Weekly checklist

Once a week, ideally on Thursday afternoon before the weekend:

  • Clear the fridge. Throw away anything out of date, unlabelled or left over from the week. Wipe the shelves.
  • Check fruit and dry stock. Remove damaged fruit, close opened packets in sealed containers, check use-by dates. The fruit storage guide helps reduce waste.
  • Descale the kettle if you use one, in hard-water areas.
  • Clean cupboard fronts and shelves.
  • Wash cloths and sponges or replace them.
  • Check stock levels for cleaning and pantry supplies and place the next order.

Monthly checklist

Once a month:

  • Deep clean the fridge, including seals and the drain hole at the back.
  • Descale the coffee machine following the manufacturer's guidance, or check that the service provider has done it.
  • Sanitise the water dispenser or confirm the supplier's service visit. The water filtration guide covers filter changes for plumbed units.
  • Clean behind and under appliances.
  • Check for pest signs under the sink and behind cupboards.
  • Review the schedule. Is anything being missed? Adjust it.

The pantry equipment maintenance guide goes deeper on machine servicing.

Supplies to keep on hand

A schedule only works if the supplies are there. Keep a small stock of:

  • Multi-surface cleaner and food-safe sanitiser.
  • Dish soap and dishwasher tablets.
  • Hand soap and paper towels.
  • Microfibre cloths and sponges, colour-coded so pantry cloths are not used in washrooms.
  • Bin liners in the right sizes.
  • Descaler for the coffee machine and kettle.
  • Disposable gloves.

Our office hygiene range, facility hygiene range and cleaning supplies range cover all of these and can be added to the same delivery as coffee and snacks. The cleaning supplies and washroom consumables guide explains how much to order.

Extra steps in cold and flu season

From late autumn, more people bring colds into the office. A few extra steps help:

  • Wipe shared handles and buttons twice a day, not once.
  • Put hand sanitiser at the pantry entrance.
  • Switch shared snack bowls to individually wrapped portions.

The cold and flu season pantry hygiene guide covers this in more detail.

Workplaces with stricter standards

Some offices need more than the basics. Clinics in Dubai Healthcare City, labs in Dubai Science Park, pharmaceutical and life sciences companies, healthcare providers and schools and universities often have their own hygiene policies. Use this checklist as a starting point and add their requirements on top. My Healthy Office delivers to offices across all UAE locations we serve.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should an office pantry be cleaned? Counters, sinks, bins, handles and the coffee machine drip tray every day; the fridge and dry stock every week; and a deep clean of the fridge, coffee machine and water dispenser every month.

Who is responsible for cleaning the office pantry? Everyone should wipe up after themselves and wash their own cups. The cleaning team usually handles the daily clean, and one named person or a rota should own the weekly fridge clear-out.

How often should the office fridge be cleared out? Once a week, ideally at the end of the working week. Throw away anything out of date or unlabelled and wipe the shelves. A monthly deep clean should include the seals and drain hole.

What cleaning supplies does an office pantry need? Multi-surface cleaner, food-safe sanitiser, dish soap, dishwasher tablets, hand soap, paper towels, colour-coded cloths, bin liners, descaler and disposable gloves.

How often should an office coffee machine be descaled? Follow the manufacturer's guidance, which depends on the machine and how much it is used. Many offices descale monthly; rented machines are often descaled during the supplier's service visit.

Can pantry cleaning supplies be delivered with the coffee and snacks? Yes. My Healthy Office supplies office hygiene, facility hygiene and cleaning products alongside pantry items, so they can arrive on the same standing order.
